Hillary Clinton didn’t like the idea of flying coach in 2010, according to emails released by the U.S. State Department.
The emails are from Clinton’s private email account, used while she was secretary of state from 2009 to 2013. Some emails that Clinton had deleted, but that were later recovered by the FBI, were released by State in a document dump on Friday afternoon.
“Does the 7 have first class seats?”
In one batch, Clinton and her top aide, Huma Abedin, email each other about travel arrangements on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. It’s not clear what flight she is taking about, from what airport or whether they were discussing a commercial flight or an official government transport — but it’s rather clear that Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, does not like to fly coach.
Abedin lets Clinton know she is having trouble getting her first-class seats on a flight.
“Just heard back from mario [sic],” Abedin wrotes. “The 5pm is full. Holding seats on the 6pm, but only coach available fyi. He’s been working on it for last hour.”
Clinton responded a few minutes later, suggesting she would like to avoid sitting with the poorer masses.
“If I can get done (still talking) I will try for the 4,” Clinton responded. “If I know I can’t make it, I will take the 6 or may decide to drive since I could get there close to the time. What a mess! Does the 7 have first class seats?”
Abedin kept trying but couldn’t get first class at 7 p.m. “May only be coach,” she said.
Which got Clinton moving for an earlier flight.
“I’m going to try for the 4,” Clinton said. “Leaving soon.”

So this is 2010 and Clinton is Secretary of State. What important meeting is she cutting short and blowing off early just so she doesn’t have to rub elbows with commoners?
It’s normal to expect senior gov’t officials to want at least minimal privacy when traveling,especially since they may be discussing information that’s officially or unofficially confidential.
As in many jobs, you just do not talk business on a plane, even in first class. You do not know who is listening in. You can talk business in private, not public.
