I hope the union leaders do not go back to the days of unreasonable demands just to justify their existence.
I believe in a living wage with good benefits. I do not believe in useless, lazy workers that become untouchable because they are in a union. There needs to be reasonable common ground.
Well said. Not a fan of unions.
My husband is a union carpenter , if I guy is no good or lazy he gets laid off !
Well said, sir!
I’m NOT a fan of Unions either!!
Do you know anything about unions? Do you have any first-hand knowledge of what they do for their members, how they operate, anything? I’ll bet the answer is no.
I would hate to work without one, believe me.
I’m in a union now for 25 years and it’s one of the best choices I have ever made. I was taught and continually learn my trade and the benefits for me and my family are phenomenal. And when I retire, I will get a monthly pension besides social security. And, my pension is transferable to my wife in case I die.
Powerful words and praise from a very unlikely source. Even the anointed one, Obama, never received such praise. That is how you build coalitions, and rebuild a nation!
Because Obama once he was elected he did very little to support the unions
Union leaders are not like they use to be, they work for the company’s not the workers who pay their union dues!!
What Union do you belong to
Just curious
With no unions there is no middle class people forget all the people who died for unions so if your not for unions u must be young and dumb and I work for my money you’ll always have your 10 percent. In any thiingyou do who are lazy

Unions have played an important role in the lives of America’s workers since the early years of our country’s history. Unions give their members the power to negotiate for better working conditions and other benefits through collective bargaining. Today, over 14 million American workers belong to unions.
As Labor Day approaches, working Americans, both union and non-union, have a long list of reasons to thank the labor movement–including these that give workers the right to paid and unpaid leave.
Weekends Off: Massive union strikes in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries led to shorter work weeks with weekends off. This allowed Americans to be home with loved ones instead of constantly working.
Paid Vacations: With summer coming to a close, take time to thank your union for the paid vacation time that made it possible to rest and relax with your family.
Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA): Unions spearheaded the fight that resulted in the passage of this law that gives eligible employees the right to take up to 12 weeks of job-protected unpaid leave annually for family and medical reasons.
Breaks at Work—Including Lunch: Although they are now federally mandated, breaks haven’t always been an employee right. Studies have shown, breaks provide important rest periods that improve safety and productivity.
Sick Leave: Without paid sick leave, many workers couldn’t afford to take the time necessary to recover from illnesses and accidents.
Paid Holidays: Labor Day is one of nine paid holidays offered by most employers in the U.S. As you spend time with family and friends this Labor Day, thank your union.
Military Leave: The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act ensures those that serve their country can keep civilian employment and benefits, and seek employment free from discrimination.
40-hour Work Week: Americans once worked 60 hours a week or more. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that 40-hour work weeks and 8-hour work days became standard across America thanks to union negotiations.
People want to bash Unions but think about that 40-hour Work Week you get to work. instead of the 80 hours you could be made to work. Think about the time off you get to spend going on Vacation with your family. You get entitled most of the same things a union worker gets.So when you put down the Union Man or woman think about why you get the thing listed above.
Thank you for your comment. I hope nonunion members read it and realized how they benefited from unionS.
Unions had their place in our history. So did the Ford Model-T. Thankfully both served their purpose when needed; however, only one of them went away (retired) due to the improvements (production line) that it helped to create, while the other is a dinosaur soaking American workers for a chunk of their check every payday while granting those who are paying a ‘God like’ status in the workforce that prevents their termination for cause. Thank you Unions for the things you have done for us but you are no longer needed. Time to send you the way of the Model-T (finally) with a thank you and a firm goodbye.
