If you are a U.S. citizen, then you should be aware that there has never been a “civil war” among these United States. The War Between the States was one of an illegal invasion of the sovereign State of South Carolina by the United States. It was instigated by Lincoln not for ideological and humanitarian reasons of freeing the slaves, but was motivated solely by the financial needs of the U.S. federal government. Federal government revenue during this period was based on tariffs, and nearly 70% of the tariff revenue was paid in by the South.
The South funded massive infrastructure projects in the North, which was an early form of redistribution of wealth. Had Lincoln not fought an illegal war of conquest against the South then the North would have been left impoverished and he would have had a failed presidency. The South could easily have imported its machined goods and equipment from Europe, but for Yankee tariffs. Once the Southern States had resumed their rightful place as equals among nations, they would not have been held hostage to a Yankee-controlled Congress which had been grievously abusive for the three decades leading up to secession.
