The GOP was dead before Trump came on the scene. The Democratic Party died about 20 years ago during the presidency of Bill Clinton. I was a Democrat then; left the party forever during the Bush presidency. The only reason why I am a Republican is that my state has a closed primary and registering as one was the only way I could cast my vote for Trump. Before Trump there was just one party with each pretending to have contests. Trump exposed the fraud and the slimeness of the whole scene with the #NeverTrumpers voting for Clinton. Trump’s Republican Party in no way resembles the GOP of the neocons. If I had fo pinpoint what it looks like to me is the pre-Civil War Whig party.
