Congresman John Lewis of Georgia is boycotting the inauguration of Donald Trump because he claims his presidency is “illegitimate,” but he’s taking rhetorical incoming from a woman who calls herself the “Conservative Black Chick.”
Crystal Wright told Fox Business host Stuart Varney that Lewis himself is an “illegitimate congressman” for saying something so “disrespectful.”
And then she pierced the beatific bubble that enshrouds the civil rights icon who marched with Martin Luther King, Junior Selma, Alabama back in 1965:
“And, you know, what I want to know is what has John Lewis done since he marched on Selma? Really. He’s riding on the coattails of something that happened over 50 years ago. …[T]o me, his position in Congress is illegitimate.”
On Monday, the Georgia congressman tweeted message about Martin Luther King, Jr. and their march on Selma, Alabama, in support of voting rights.
But Wright says Congressman Lewis has been dining out on that march for the past 50 years:
“John Lewis has done more for himself in the past 50 plus years than he’s done for black people.”
OUCH! Race card….DENIED!

Yes, exactly! John Lewis is a disgrace! WHO CARES WHAT HE THINKS? He obviously is still living in the Washington DC bubble and does not realize that he and his kind have become IRRELEVANT. He does not speak for me as a black American woman nor do I hold him in high esteem.

Maybe this election and all the leftist politicians is what all of needed to see so we would wake up and stop re electing these losers into office. Better candidates are needed who we can trust and will work for us. It’s up to us to get them elected but not until we have vetted them to be sure they are not playing a game. Mr Lewis went to support the very party that originally beat him years ago. He said bush was not legitimate and skipped his inauguration. America elected trump. No one influenced us. The muslim in the White House was getting us ready to be taken over by islam. All those dems not going to the inauguration also need to be taken out of office. We can’t fix USA with a group of clowns whose personal agenda is to oppose Trump 24/7.

Johnson sat there and argued that Guam would tip over if too many people went on it. I thought he was kidding……….he was deadly serious. He’s made other similar remarks. Cummings gets up there and blusters like an old rooster. How they get re-elected to their seats is a major mystery.

I appreciate what you have brought to the conversation. John Lewis has become an angry old man. Part of his problem is physical I believe. I have noticed changed in his speech over the years and I think the brick that hit him in the head is wreaking its damage now. But I am with you 100%. I noticed you identified as a black American woman. Thanks for not being PC. I am white and have two adopted black granddaughters. I refuse to call them African Americans because they were not born in Africa, they were born here. I love them to death but will do my part to make sure they don’t go down the PC road. I checked his legislative record & his dossier. He’s done nothing, but offer legislation for reparations for blacks. People have been afraid to call him out & be called racist. That’s changing. Now I believe that what he said about the President-Elect was out of line, but to say “what has John Lewis done since he marched on Selma?” is little out of line as well. this woman only has the rights she does today because of people like John Lewis. And if he has done so little, why has he stayed elected in an extremely republican state like Georgia as long as he has? Food for thought.
Because Atlanta is Democrat. These old black men trot out the race card, fooling people into thinking he actually cares about them. He did a lot of good back in the day, but you know what? It is time to move forward. Reliving history over and over and over and over is getting really old. Of course you cannot forget, but that doesn’t mean it has to be brought up at every turn. What should be brought up is how many young black men are in prison and why. (Along with a lot of other PRESENT DAY issues.) Blame it on the system, but remember, they did something to get there to start with. Many people make it through their lives without ever being arrested. Black people at that. And if you say they are at a disadvantage, well there you go. John Lewis has done nothing to change that in however many years he has been in.
Because of the voting rights act which enabled states to gerrymander districts and draw them in such a way that it would guarantee a black majority of voters in certain districts.

I had heard of Lewis in the past. I had not heard about his racist views. It appears that Lewis and several other black career politicians have been living double lives. They have not done any thing for their black districts but they live off the black voter and call racist just to get black voters attention. Fortunately their are several black leaders who know what is really going on. The reason Trump won so many of the black votes is so many finally wised up. They have been lied to so many times about doing more to improve their lives. The voters are looking at all the politicians lining up against Trump and trying to keep him from fulfilling his promises. They know that our country needs to work together to get things done. Some like Lewis know that without the black vote the democrats can not win any office. Trumps already done more on getting things done than obama in the last 8 yrs
I dont know why nobody calls John Lewis a RACIST. He also skipped Pres. G. Bush’s Inauguration and now Pres. D. Trump both are coincidentally WHITE allegedging illegitimacy, and denying the 62MILLION Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, Europeans etc VOTERS WHO DENOUNCE THE LIBERAL DEMOCRATS’ RACISM, BIGOTRY, JOBLESS YEARS, increasing loverty and COMMUNITY MASSACRES.
The incident which occurred with Dr. Kong’s March in Selma where Rep. Lewis was hit in the head (among other things) may have just ended his ability to THINK there on the spot. His cognitive thinking as a grown up destroyed.

Jack, I agree with much of the above about Lewis but I really hope that was a typo in your comment. Dr. KING did so much for this country and civil rights. I am a white man and grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood. I was the only white boy on the school bus and was subjected to my fair share of discrimination. But if you deliberately typed the O in Dr. King’s name, you are a disgrace to this country! I hope it was an error!!!
