Trump to Make First Overseas Trip As GOP Nominee
Jesse Byrnes reports
Donald Trump is slated to make his first overseas trip as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee this month: a visit to the United Kingdom to mark the reopening of a golf course the day after Britons vote on whether or not to stay in the European Union.
Trump will visit the U.K. on June 24 for the reopening of his Trump Turnberry golf course in Scotland, course public relations spokeswoman Lisa McGhee told AFP on Wednesday, the day the course reopened.
“There will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with invited guests, and Mr. Trump himself,” she said.
The trip will come a day after the U.K.’s “Brexit” vote on whether to leave the EU. Trump has said he’d support such a decision but doesn’t want to insert himself in the British debate.“Oh yeah, I think they should leave,” he said Wednesday in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter
