Trump Nation Turns Against NBC – Olympic Ratings Are in the Toilet

Trump supporters have had it with biased media like CNN, NBC, ABC and their ilk, as well as pandering, politically correct companies like Macy’s, who last year sided with illegals after Trump’s initial comments on building a border wall.

Macy’s is now closing hundreds of stores and NBC’s ratings are tanking.

Case in point – the Olympic coverage.

It’s “bench warming” worthy, at best.

Millions of fewer viewers are tuning in to watch this year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro than during the London Olympic Games four years ago.

20.7 million viewers watched NBC’s coverage of the games Saturday night during the first full night of competition. NBC’s viewership is down 28 percent, with approximately 8 million less viewers than the numbers posted for the 2012 Olympics.

In fact, Saturday’s broadcast from Brazil was the second-lowest viewership for the Olympics since 1992, only surpassing the first day of the 2004 Olympics in Athens by around 1 million.

Saturday’s low numbers followed a trend from Friday.

The Opening Ceremony Friday night had 26.5 million total viewers, down 35 percent from the 2012 Olympics in London, which posted the highest numbers on record at 40.7 million viewers.

NBC attempted to explain its low numbers, pointing to how much the broadcasting world has changed in just the past four years.

“To expect the same pure television consumption four years removed from London just isn’t logical, but overall consumption is at or above our expectations,” said NBC Sports spokesman Greg Hughes.

To compare Rio to London, he said, is to compare “apples to oranges,” given changing media viewing habits that involve live-streaming online as well as traditional broadcasting.

Some commentators believe NBC’s approach to the Olympics is part of the problem.

Sally Jenkins for The Washington Post argued that the way NBC is presenting the Olympics is outdated, using a recent comment from NBC chief marketing officer John Miller as evidence.
