Trump Already Has the 2nd Most GOP Votes in History, Will Finish With Highest Vote Total Ever

With the GOP Primary season drawing to a close, presumptive nominee Donald J. Trump is poised to accumulate more primary votes than any previous GOP primary winner.

In what is a clear indication that 2016 is an insurgent year, Trump has earned close to 11 million primary votes, just shy of the record set by George W. Bush during the 2000 primary. With seven contests still to be held–including vote-rich California and New Jersey–Trump will likely surpass Bush’s benchmark by June 7th.
