The “Diversity” Police! NYPD Allowing Officers to Wear Turbans and Grow Beards
The politically correct NYPD is allowing officers to wear full turbans in place of the traditional police cap and grow beards up to a half-inch long as required by their religion.
What if a female Muslim police officer wants to wear a full burqa?
Is that ok, too?
Where are the lines drawn?
From Breitbart:
NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill announced the change in policy Wednesday following a graduation ceremony for new recruits surrounded by officers wearing navy blue turbans kept in place with police brass, CNN reported.
“We want to make the NYPD as diverse as possible, and I think this is going to go a long way to help us with that,” O’Neill said.
“It’s a major change in our uniform policy, so we had to go about it carefully. And now I have the opportunity to make the change, and I thought it was about time that we did that.”
O’Neill said the NYPD has about 160 Sikh officers.
He said that even though the NYPD has a strict policy regarding head coverings, officers will be able to wear turbans as head coverings as a religious exemption so long as they get approval first.
The turbans must also be navy blue and have the NYPD insignia attached, the Daily Mail reports.Male observant Sikhs cover their heads with turbans, which are considered sacred, and don’t shave their beards.
Before the policy change, Sikh officers could wear a smaller wrap known as a patka underneath their department issued cap, said Gurvinder Singh, an NYPD officer and president of the national Sikh Officers Association.
Beards were prohibited because they interfered with wearing gas masks.
Those with a medical or religious exemption could only wear facial hair up to 1 mm in length.
Sikh advocates praised the NYPD’s decision to be more inclusive.
“If the NYPD’s new policy indeed allows for Sikhs to maintain unshorn beards and turbans, that sends a powerful message to the rest of America that Sikhs are an important part of our nation’s fabric,” Harsimran Kaur, legal director of The Sikh Coalition, told NBC News in a statement.

No its not ok with the people of NYC . I live here and we are pissed off about this crap .They should have never been allowed to join the force . They need to be fired and deported all muzzy scum must go .
My understanding is that they are Siks. They aren’t Muslim, but even if they are they have no authority or mandate to enforce sharia law, which would be illegal and against U.S. constitutional law. This is where we must draw the line. Turbans don’t offend me, Seiks believe in reincarnation. However they also tend to also believe in Islam. They must make an oath to adhere to U.S. law and abandon any conflicts.
You are letting the Muslim’s take over NYC. That is a plan and you are falling for it! D-U-M-B!!!!
This isn’t the end of it – nothing will ever please them until we follow Sharia Law and they take over our country. Wake up – quit bowing to these radicals. Many people cannot get jobs in fields they want for one reason or another – rules and laws are just that and one group should not be able to dictate change just because they want it and yell discrimination.
I have been so amused reading the comments of this website. It for some reason seems like its all sarcasm and blissful ignorance in the healthy name of comedy. However, if this is not the truth then I’d really like to fill in a couple gaps with the people commenting here. First of all, Sikhism is a religion that is tied to the north western region of India. Second, Sikhism has stemmed from Hinduism and Sikhism is famous for having people who fought against moghul(muslim) rule of India during the early 1400s. Finally, as far as sharia law and other bullshit is concerned. NO ONE CAN FORCE YOU to do what you don’t want to do. This is America, here we have freedom to follow a religion or renounce it, no one can just show up at your doorstep and tell you to wear a damn turban while holding you up on gunpoint. Nonetheless, please do plenty of research before commenting things that only show that an internet connection can truly be accessed by the illiterate. Please educate yourself and the rewards will get you far.
Vinny, I respect the effort; I really do. I read your comment on a similar pilgrimage of my own after seeing the inflammatory tweets of Amy Moreno. She labeled herself a Senior Writer at Truthfeed.com, which from the best I can tell looks like what we used to call a blog when I was a kid.
The problem with blogs is they often don’t spend the time to do any real research or offer any critical analysis. They attempt to pass opinion as fact often, and lack the support staff that a true journalistic enterprise requires. People who believe the conspiracy that the mainstream media has a hidden agenda have likely never spent much time around the inner workings of their internal day-to-day business. The work is produced by teams of people made up by many individuals who are assigned a task that is part of a whole. In short, they spend the time researching and analyzing the facts; so that ordinary people in their daily lives can know what is happening in the world without spending the countless hours.
Blogs posing themselves as actual news organizations creates a serious problem to the fabric of American life we are now finding out. People are unable to discern whether a source is credible, though they are able to find it online and be influenced by it. There is no barrier to entry into the field of blogging and anyone with time, money, and a computer can enter into the occupation.
Those are India’s Sikhs and not Muslims. Big Difference.
you folks are clueless… yes, Sikhs wear turbans, bur they are NOT Muslims you morons. They are freedom loving friends to America. Many are proud Americans.
