Republicans Plans To Storm California After Trump Victory

California Republicans are making a move to expand into the heavily Democratic state after President-elect Trump’s White House win.

From the LA Times:

The group cites momentum and energy from a strong Republican win in several states that were assumed to go to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The state hasn’t given a statewide office to a Republican in over a decade, and Trump lost the state by nearly 4 million votes.

“If we can get Donald J. Trump to be president of the United States, certainly we can get Californians registered to be Republicans,” conservative Californian Johnnie Morgan told the Times. “With the energy we have now, with the momentum we have now, with the inspiration we have now, with the committed people we have now, we can do this. It will spread like wildfire.”

With Republican voter registration in California at all an-time low, a huge number of activists will be required to impact any local and statewide races in the coming years. Democrats run the state’s governing body and retain the governor’s mansion.

“We’re not being heard right now because the numbers are against us and that’s OK. We know the realities,” Leader of the Make America Great Again group Rachel Gunther said during the group’s latest meeting.

“We’re not going to change the landscape in one year or two years or even four years. We just want our voices heard. We want to show the political elite that we exist and that we are not happy with some of their legislation and they can’t just ramrod things like that without considering us.”

Although Trump lost the state by a wide margin, he still garnered 4.5 million votes statewide, more than his showing in Florida or Texas, the other most populated states Trump won in November.
