Texas Senator Ted Cruz is set to be nominated for a position on the Supreme Court by President-elect Donald J. Trump if current trends hold, a source close to the process tells GotNews.
The source told GotNews that “a deal” is being cut which would see Cruz nominated to the Supreme Court on the condition that a pro-Trump Republican could be found to replace Ted Cruz in the Senate.
It is unclear whether Cruz would be immediately nominated to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who died earlier this year, or if his nomination would come later. While Cruz was not on Trump’s list of potential Supreme Court picks, he undoubtedly fits the bill as a staunch conservative constitutionalist.
Cruz, who won his Texas Senate seat in 2012, is publicly planning to run for re-election in 2018. Privately, it seems he’s ready and willing to become a Supreme Court Justice.
Ted Cruz was Donald Trump’s earliest ally and final foe in the Republican presidential primaries. He has steadily reconciled with Trump since the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July earlier this year.
Cruz has been described by his former law professor and world-famous lawyer Alan Dershowitz as “one of the best students I ever had.” Cruz is widely praised as a legal scholar and orator, despite being notoriously disliked among his Senate colleagues.
That dislike may make a Cruz confirmation very easy in the Senate.

I think it would be a good thing for Cruz to replace Scalia, one of the best and most honest Supreme Court Justices ever. We need good justices to keep out country right.

Senator Ted Cruz is a great legal mind and Constitutional scholar. However, he would never be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the Supreme Court because of the outdated and increasingly ruiness filibuster rule that ties up the legislative branch of government in knots. The truth is Majority leader Mitch McConnel has no fight in him for long needed change to bring the Senate into the modern age. Ending the filibuster rule would help make Congress a true co-equal branch of government envisioned by the Constitution. He must come around to the fact the filibuster must be ended or the institution he claims to love wlll become increasingly impotent and irrelevant. There is a clear and present danger of more and more Presidential dominence by default using executive orders unless the filibuster is ended or at a minimum, phased out.
Maybe Republicans can go nuclear. Remember Reid opened that door.
President Elect Trump will make the ultimate decision. I trust his judgement, because he’s proven himself over the months and continues to prove himself.

Cruz is NOT on Trumps list of names he submitted months ago. Plus Cruz has NEVER opened hisrecords of his birth, school transcripts etc. Review the debates, Cruz is a LIAR who ate his own snot.
