NFL Denver Broncos Player Who Refused to Stand for The National Anthem Loses Endorsement
The NFL has become a group of weepy social justice warriors who are more interested in political and social fodder than playing the game they’re making MILLIONS to play.
In yet another act of low-info stupidity, a Denver Broncos player by the name of Brandon Marshall, refused to stand for the National Anthem.
However, that little act of stupidity cost him an endorsement deal.
Good.

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall said he expected pushback. He knew not everyone would agree with his decision to kneel for the national anthem before the Broncos’ season-opener against Carolina on Thursday evening.
He expected some to perceive his protest, designed to highlight issues such as racial inequality and police brutality, in a negative light.
Friday morning, his expectation became reality when Air Academy Federal Credit Union released him from his endorsement deal. Marshall became AAFCU’s official spokesperson in May.
“Although we have enjoyed Brandon Marshall as our spokesperson over the past five months, Air Academy Federal Credit Union (AAFCU) has ended our partnership,” Glenn Strebe, the AAFCU’s president and CEO wrote in a Facebook statement. “AAFCU is a membership-based organization who has proudly served the military community for over 60 years. While we respect Brandon’s right of expression, his actions are not a representation of our organization and membership. We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors.”

But obviously he expected pushback. This aint about money. This is about asking ppl to acknowledge what’s right in their face and stop being punks and hold a serious discussion. Ppl no matter their race (although some raves more) are being treated bad in this country by this government and the police forces. It has to stop. Every cop is not bad, but stop protecting the good ones. Also treat ppl how you want to be treated as a person. Don’t look down on them soley based on skin color or economic status. You never know what a person is working on or going through. Very few are born into money. It’s disrespectful to all the men and women who have died giving them the right to refuse to stand. If they want to start a discussion, movement, whatever, do it off the field.

I also served and bull he shouldnt lose endorsements for acting like this. His personal life he can sit, throw money at or protest on HIS TIME. During a game is not his time. He is at a job, a job paid for by the people. I would love to hear about you sitting down in uniform on the job in the military. You would be in front of the captain ASAP. As someone that plays on a diverse team he should be setting the example about coming together as a team. To show kids to be proud of thier country and that we are to work together.

I served my country too, 23 years protecting and defending. But, with certain positions/jobs, you don’t always have that right to exercise your freedoms granted; you certainly did not in the military (maybe butthurt you are). If whom you work for believes you are hurting their brand and hurting their bottom line with your freedom of speech, then they can exercise their freedom to release you from work/duties. Remember, your free speech could have consequential outcomes not in your favor; and this is what the NFL is experiencing right now. Double digit tv viewing rate loss, this is the average American saying, if you let this happen, we refuse to watch. So continue on with your rights and we will exercise ours not to watch overpaid kids play ball on our dime. This is what professional ball players need to remember, they are paid by the wealthy elite (often themselves becoming the wealthy elite) and we the common American are the ones that watch. Advertisers pay big bucks for commercials during NFL games, less people watching, advertising not hitting their target audience. Networks start to lose money because advertisers do not want to pay premiums prices for their lack of tv audience. SO DRIVE ON WITH YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND I WILL CONTINUE TO EXERCISE MINE.

There is a reason they are called Minorities . With less than 12 percent of the population and declining. And other minorities are growing look at the Latin culture not only is it surviving in the so called oppressive society its growing. So why is that ? They have a higher graduation rate than blacks they have safer neighborhoods statically they are the fastest growing segment in the American Population. They are on less social programs like section 8 housing food stamps and wic yet are almost double the black population. Stop being a victim start taking responsibility for your own people. 76 percent of your families are single parent house holds. only 69 percent of your children graduate high school. Start being fathers to your children. Make family your #1 priority raise your children with respect and dignity and give them hope by being the best you can be . Start taking on problems within and stop blaming the majority on issues you can resolve on your own and stop blaming white Americans for the majority of your own issues and we might start taking an interest on legittament problems you face daily. but until you start really trying to solve inner city killings with black on black crime by actually helping cops find the killers instead of this street justice or snitches get stiches mentalities . Very well said Erin, except where you put “good ones” and meant to say “bad ones.” So many people don’t understand what it is they mean by not standing and they won’t even try to understand. I wish they would open up their minds, but they won’t. I hope what these ball players and other famous people are doing to try to open up a discussion and change things works. It has nothing to do with veteran’s or those who fight for our country. Even they agree that something needs to be done. They are out there fighting for American’s citizen’s rights and others are trying to take them away. They are the ones that need to be stopped and it needs to be discussed and solutions need to be made.
Maybe if some of those players who thank their lucky stars for that lucrative contract to get OUT of those cities where the problems are actually DID something it might seem more sincere. Most leave those cities and NEVER look back. The players I respect are not the ones who “take a knee” but those who really try to make a difference in those communities.
Most people who watch football are not interested in conversation with a particular player – they just want to watch football so these players who think they are doing something “special” and think they are actually encouraging dialogue are simply NOT. They are just reminding everyone one that these men are paid millions to bring their talent to the field – nothing less. So when they cause distraction and do less than that – they don’t help anyone. And any sponsor that declines to pay them for an endorsement or to be a spokesman can certainly do so. That is also freedom of expression…

I’m 70 years old & my parent both had to work exceptionally long hard hours to make ends meet. Nobody & no Government programs sent them a check every month. And the world back then was a much better place to live than it is today. True, we have technology that has advanced for the better many facets of life, but the hatred that has come from this technology only show that this world we live in is controlled by Satanic leadership. This world has totally removed God from any thoughts & decisions. Thus, the further mankind gets away from doing his will, the more problems will plague us. I’m certainly not a Bible thumper, but when you get these false religious organizations that that strongly remove God or even deny God, & treat women like scum as well as many other deplorable beliefs, then naturally, the world suffers. I can’t & don’t even want to think about what a ewifked world this will be for my grandchildren. God help us all.

Those of us who don’t give a shit and just want to watch the ceremony and our games shouldn’t have to be subject to these people’s personal protest on national TV. Showing them on TV will just make them feel like their making a difference when their action is helping the cause how? TV people don’t need to give them the air time. They want to protest then let them do it on their time and dime. They stopped showing the streaker’s and that stopped. Bottom line like most say, wrong place and time for personal protest. Tv people stop showing it. Let these people get or pay for their own air time.
I can’t find where any of these kneeling players are involved in any sort of social programs. Kaepernick is involved in a charity for children with heart problems, and that’s amazing, but why aren’t these players at least involved in the boys and girls club, or being more active in minority communities? Now that they have everyone’s attention, they need to act and provide logical and reasonable solutions for what they are protesting.

These football players have been paying too much attention to the Hollywood crazies always spouting off so they try for it themselves. If they really want to make a statement why don’t they call a press conference and then put forth a statement and answer questions. That will get as much attention as they get from their antics and leave everyone with a better taste in their mouth. If they really want to make a difference then they should get out into the underprivileged communities and work with people there and have the press report that. That would do way more for their causes than all of their theatrics.
What needs to be understood here is that. What these players do is a job, a job that they get paid for. And like any place of employment. Religion and politics do not belong there. If these players who give little thought to what our national anthem signifies want to protest , then they should do their protesting when you leave the office(football field) on their own personal time. My Father was raised in a 2 room border-line shack with a wood stove for heat, by the Atlantic Ocean with 14 kids and both parents all living in it. It wasn’t unusual to wake up to 2+ feet of snow and the one hole outhouse was 40 feet away.
Not one hem ever got arrested, played anything resembling the ‘knock-out game’, raped, shot people, sold drugs, took welfare or whined about growing up poor.
If they couldn’t get employed they simply worked providing services.
