She was a hit.
Naturally, that caused panic within the Democrat and NeverTrump ranks, so both groups worked overtime to spin the positive narrative into something ugly.
What they came up with borders on the absurd.
Plagiarism.
According to these idiots, Melania’s speech was lifted from a 2008 speech Michelle Obama gave.
Oh, wait, not the entire speech.
A paragraph.
Oh, wait, not the entire paragraph, just some sentences.

Forget the plagiarism argument, I call complete BULLSHIT on Michelle’s claims.

If you most bring it up, point out exactly the parts that are wrong and show her how to correct them, but don’t do it here if possible. My first thought was that there was a “mole” on Trump’s staff. Melania would NOT be so stupid as to plagiarize part of a speech from someone she DOESNT EVEN ADMIRE OR RESPECT, and run the risk of being exposed. A saboteur would hope for that or maybe even “leaked” the information to his/her camp so it would surely embarrass Melania. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Our children learn to be critical thinkers in middle school. #1. They are not allowed to turn in papers with this degree of similarity in both form and specific worda. However, they are allowed to repeat facts that are common knowledge or slogan/catch phrases.
#2. Any argumentative essay written by even a middle schooler is unacceptable if it does not demonstrate some understanding of the oposing argument and this generally requires reading or listening to the actual oposing argument from the source.
#3 There is no validity to a student’s argument if they are unable to present evidence to back up their claims.

If you would know of these you would have to say that by the same standards you judged Melania, Michelle plagiarized the speech first. Fact is, it is a speech that has been given thousands of times in many different languages by people of all different races who are proud of their her age and work ethica that helped them become successful. I agree that the speech writers need to be hauled on the carpet; however, if I was to give a speech of this magnitude, I would have viewed Michelle’s speech and recognized the similarities BEFORE I presented it to the American people. Preparation is 75% of presentation.

One must be a presidential candidate’s spouse to be able to say “It’s so easy to be outspoken and a leader when you have the potential to become the next first lady.” I highly doubt you are. It’s never easy to give a good speech even for a small group of people unless you’re Marcus Cicero or Newt Gingrich. Now try to give a speech in another language. English is my 4-th language and knowing 3 Slavic languages didn’t help me when I had to give a speech in English before one hundred-people audience in a corporation I just joined. While I was awaiting my turn, and listened to other speakers present, I wrote down the words they were using in hope of using them to sound professional. Plagiarism? When I got up on stage, I could barely control my breathing and my vision was blurry. I couldn’t see my notes I wrote earlier in smaller font, so I presented my speech from memory and utilizing the phrases I just heard and written in bigger letters. At the conclusion, my co-workers were applauding and complementing my speech. I’m sure they noticed I used others’ phrases, but they were good-hearted crowd, who were supportive and appreciative of my efforts. I was undecided up until Melania’s controversy. Now, I have decided. I simply can’t join a hateful crowd, who instead of embracing Melania’s efforts, used every opportunity to crash her.

Phrases like what was spoke by both of them are centuries old. They are phrases that those of us with good parents, were taught by their parents, and our parents passed them on to us. There is no copyright on them. They are “public domain”. Nothing was stolen, nothing was copied. My parents have used the same exact phrases and I’ve shared them with my children.

The parts in question are only a small part of the speech. The original ideas in question come from the Bible (Numbers 30), so anyone raised in the Christian or Jewish religion might have the same values. The liberal media will attack anyone who does not agree with their agenda. This just proves again which side the hate is coming from. It is funny that nobody was concerned when Hillary plagiarized parts of Bernie Sanders speeches.

In fact Michelle got them from Nancy Reagan and Nancy got them from Mrs. Eisenhower. Its the equivalent to saying a president plagiarized a speech by beginning it with “My fellow Americans.” Again its common usage for the situation.

If nit, does anyone KNOW or LOVE someone who fits the above descriptions? If so, please go talk to them about what they think about Trump and really listen. Do they know what the impact on their lives will be if he becomes president? How do they think they will be safe and protected or how their lives will be? Is it possible to explain how you think it will be with Trump as president? What specific thing do you hope he will guide our country toward that does not include or come from a place of war, fear, hate, racism, sexism, anti-intelectualism etc?

To my dear potential Trump voter friends. Trump claims that he’ll be an effective president b/c he’ll get the best and the smartest people to advise him. Last night his wife’s speech was plagiarized. I have been a university English composition teacher for 20 years; I know plagiarism. It was plagiarized. If you don’t believe me, look up the definition of plagiarism yourself. However, plagiarism of the sort committed in the speech is rookie level stuff, the sort I see in freshman students who don’t know the rules. The formal introduction of Melania Trump through her speech at the convention should have been handled with the greatest care. What the plagiarism suggests is that Trump didn’t get the best and smartest people to fact check the speech, that he wasn’t careful when he should have been. Fact checking would have been easy in the case of the speech (again, I’m an English teacher, and I do this sort of thing regularly), but fact checking is MUCH more important and infinitely more difficult for a person who would be president. A president must gather facts and deliberate over them. We became embroiled in Iraq partly b/c of an absence of fact checking and deliberation. The most important facts that were not checked regarded whether Iraq had any part in the 9-11 attack (it didn’t). But even if it had, the president, according to several reliable sources knew little about the religious/ethnic complexities in Iraq until a few weeks before we invaded. Had those facts been understood, the simplistic idea that Iraq would be pacified when Saddam was removed from power would have been rejected. Apparently the Bush administration forgot that Iraq was comprised of militarized ethnic groups that would vie for power in the absence of Saddam. And then there were the “facts” about the threat Iraq posed to the U.S. Trump is an amusing entertainer to some, but he either doesn’t have the intelligence or the desire even to do what is easy as in the case of Melania’s speech. Why would anyone expect him to behave any differently if he were president?
