LISTEN : Judge Refuses to Hear Case of Muslim Woman Who Wouldn’t Remove Hijab
A Canadian judge refused to hear the case of a Muslim woman who wouldn’t remove her hijab in court.
The Quebec judge told the woman courts are a “secular” place and her attire should reflect that.
However, the woman refused to remove her hijab, so the judge refused to hear her case regarding her attempt to retrieve her car after was seized by a Canadian insurance board.
The judge said:
“The same rules need to be applied to everyone. I will therefore not hear you if you are wearing a scarf on your head, just as I would not allow a person to appear before me wearing a hat or sunglasses on his or her head, or any other garment not suitable for a court proceeding.”
