I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked with children who are on the Autism Spectrum and their families. This is very personal but should not be seen in a shameful way. The research is correct that Autism has increased significantly since 1980 when I started working with children and families when the ratio was one in 1,000 children and now it is one in 67. The reasons for Autism are still not clearly known and we need further research and treatment. These children are frequently bullied and have difficulty socializing and making friends which may be why they are so connected with electronics.
