Four Reasons Trump’s “15 State Strategy” is Brilliant

Trump recently teased a “15 state strategy” in the general, which include some where Republican nominees don’t often campaign or consider swing states.

*Note the map is Fox News’ interpretation of what 15 states they believe Trump may have in mind and has not been confirmed as the 15 states Trump is referring to.

“We have to win, and I want my energy to be put into the states where it could go either way…. and we’re going to play heavy, as an example, in California. Now no other Republican — they wouldn’t even go to dinner in California. They wouldn’t do it.”

Many simple minded media talking heads have already expressed cynicism in this strategy, considering states like California and New York a waste of time. However, here are four specific reasons why “they” are dead wrong.

Reason 1) Trump Can Indeed Win Previously Un-winnable States

Is Donald Trump the favorite at this time to win California? No, not yet. Is it impossible for him to do so? No, not at all. This is an election like no other and Hillary Clinton’s unfavorables put states into play that never have been before. Let us remind you Hillary is currently losing the entire male demographic nationally by a unprecedented 22 percentage points, a much larger margin than she is winning women by. She is extremely vulnerable and her reputation as a crooked liar even from her own party and the non-stop drip of new criminal revelations have her reeling in a downward spiral.

Arnie-460x276Still think it is nevertheless impossible for a well known Republican “celebrity” to win over the majority in California?

Tell that to Arnold Schwarzenegger, who defeated Ariana Huffington to become the California “Governator.”

Reason 2) Playing in Many States Forces Low-Stamina Hillary Clinton on Defense

The way the electoral map is drawn,  the traditional Republican vs. Democrat nominee contest greatly favors the Democrats. Republicans essentially no room for error and must win Ohio and Florida, whereas the Democratic nominee has multiple paths to victory. If Trump were to run a traditional campaign, he would allow Hillary to focus her rallies and campaign resources on a narrow number of states.

By playing in a large number of swing states, Trump forces Clinton on defense. While Team Trump is known for their stamina, often holding 2 and even 3 large rallies in a single day, Hillary Clinton’s health is highly questionable and she will struggle with heavier travel demands and a larger number of necessary appearances.

Reason 3) Fundraising and Press

The two states in the USA with the most millionaires are California and New York. These two states are also considered the entertainment capitals. For traditional Republican nominees to skip these two states is demoralizing for fundraising and publicity efforts and Trump is wise to put them back in play.

Reason 4) The Social Media Age Knows No Boundaries

Donald Trump understands social media and that in today’s society, what you do and say in any state effects the other 49 states. When Ted Cruz attempted his poll-tested “New York Values” line of attack, it may have helped him get one extra delegate in Iowa, but he did not anticipate the waterfall effect. Offended New Yorkers slammed Cruz for the next 4 months on social media, affecting him in every state. This culminated in the April 26th Primary northeast Trump sweep, where an entire region handed Cruz brutal retribution for his sneaky remark.

Mitt Romney was also incredibly foolish to not understand this concept and instead surrender large states. By playing in states like California and New York, Trump gives more reasons for his fans in those two population powerhouses to get involved in social media in ways that will affect every other key state. Many families are also spread throughout multiple states and one fan in New York may have 20 relatives in Florida that influence each other.

Once you understand this and how the internet has interconnected us, you see that the result of Trump’s efforts in each state will not be solely reflected by the result of the voting results in that state alone. e.g. It’s possible Trump may not win California, but putting the state in play and energizing his supporters in the golden state may be part of a larger movement that effectively leads him to win other key states and the Presidency.

In summary, don’t believe the clueless media talking heads that do not understand these four simple concepts. Donald Trump knows exactly what he is doing and is thinking many steps ahead of them.
