EXCLUSIVE : Truthfeed Interviews Trump Advocate and Actor Antonio Sabato Jr
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with the actor, model, family man, and Trump supporter, Antonio Sabato Jr.
Not a bad way to spend half-an-hour of your life.
I liken Antonio to a stoic force of nature – he’s commanding, yet gracefully articulate. His point of view is compelling – and he draws you into his world with his common-sense patriotic convictions, which are timeless and dynamic, and the perfect backdrop against 2016’s uniquely fantastical political theatre.
Antonio, thank you so much for taking the time to speak to me today.
Yes, it’s my pleasure, thank you, Amy.
One thing I have noticed about you – you’re very politically savvy, what got you interested in politics?
Well, really, I was never interested in Politics – I’m still probably not, I’m just interested in our country. I’m patriotic; I just love this nation. I have great respect for the United States of America and what this country has done for my family and me.
When you sit back and really watch what’s going on in the country – when you read between the lines – you can see that we’re going through a tough time.
I’m lucky that I have an opportunity to voice and express how I feel about it.
OK so, it’s dinner time at Antonio’s house – are you discussing politics or the election at the dinner table?
Well, you know, politics brings the best and the worst out in people. What’s happening in the country is important to me, so if I have an opportunity to go on a talk show and discuss politics, that’s one thing, but at home, we take a break, and we talk about other things. However, obviously, me and my wife know what’s going on.
We focus on the family and fun stuff – there’s a place and a time for everything.
Antonio, you once said, “We live in the greatest country in the world, but we are lead by the worst president of all time.” I thought that was such powerful parallel. Do you believe that this election is America’s last chance to get it right?
Well, I think we are at a place that’s very dangerous economically, for the whole country. We’re going on eight years now with a debt that’s piling up and will soon be over twenty trillion dollars. That falls on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren – but for the time being it falls on us.
As the leader of the free world, this president has been extremely weak. And let me just say this, I came from a place seven years ago – where I had great hope for President Obama. I saw him as a very charming guy – he’d walk in a room and talk to everyone and just make everyone feel at ease – he was different, he was unique. It was something we’d never seen before, and was refreshing, especially after Bush.
So, you liked Obama?
I had hope.
But all my hopes went down the drain because he’s damaged this country and we’re all paying for it.
OK, Antonio, I am going to say three words, and I want you to tell me the first word that comes to your mind. Ready?
Yes, ok.
President. Hillary. Clinton.
Dangerous.
Very dangerous.
Even Benghazi alone, the way that went down – she did not save the lives of our four men – she let it happen. She closed her eyes and went to sleep. She walked away.
It’s partly her fault, and it’s also her bosses fault, Obama, for what happened in Benghazi.
But she let that happen.
People still support her…..
Yeah, and I see why people want to vote for her. People liked Bill Clinton, even through the scandals, they still liked him. It’s funny, when you’re younger you don’t pay attention to scandals, you think ‘does this guy look good in a suit, can he talk, can he charm us….’ And I think that same thing is happening with people who support Hillary.
People need to look between the lines and really see what’s going on – see this person for who she really is, the corruption and all of the illegal things that she’s done.
We could sit here and go on for days about it, but you know what I mean.
Yes, sadly, I do. Antonio, keeping on the topic of Hillary, did you think that she’d be charged for her crimes, or were you all, “Hell no, she’ll skate!”
Well, I was hoping, you know. I was hoping that the law was going to do the right thing. Anyone else in her situation would be behind bars. And everybody knows this. People who have done less than what she’s done have been accused and put behind bars. All these secret meetings, emails, and just all the things that she’s done, Benghazi, Lybia, Syria, just everything this woman has done – but I dunno, I guess she’s just on a different level.
Is she above the law?
Yes. It’s like this; you’re driving a car, and you’re going 100 miles per hour and the police stop you and say, “Ya know, this time, I am gonna let you go because you weren’t at 101. You were just at a 100, so you’re ok.”
She did something illegal, and she should be held accountable for it. But she’s not – and that’s politics.
Unfortunately.
OK, so how do we get past it?
I guess it is what it is, but we as a nation need to come together and see things for what they truly are.
Everyone has a chance to vote this year in November, so ask yourself, “Why am I seriously voting for this person?” And tell yourself the real reason why.
Antonio, who’s gonna win the election?
Well, I feel very strongly that Donald Trump is going to win. It’s about to happen, you watch.
I agree with you. Tell me, what do you think is Trump’s greatest “weapon” against the left?
Fixing the country and jobs.
He needs to tell us over and over what are the steps he’ll take to make this country great again – economically, militarily, and get rid of Obamacare and replace it with something better.
He needs to talk about the issues that the American people want to hear about.
How are we going to lower the debt? How are we going to bring our jobs back home? That type of thing.
Antonio, soon Trump will choose a VP. Do you think he goes “older and experienced” or “younger and full of fresh ideas?”
Hmmm, I dunno. It just depends…..It’s a tactical decision; he will be smart about it.
I like Newt Gingrich – he’s my pick.
Although I dunno, it might be someone completely out of left-field that we haven’t even thought about.
So, a lot of people are saying that this election is a battle of Nationalism (Trump) vs. Globalism (Hillary). Do you agree with that mantra?
Yeah, absolutely, that’s a big part of it. Look what happened in England recently, they wanted their independence back. Ya know, look, we need to bring jobs back to this country. Remember “Made in The USA?” When was the last time you saw that on something you bought?
Right, not very often anymore.
We’ve lost that, and I’m sorry, but sometimes you’ve got to make other people unhappy to get the job done. In politics, you must have the voice to speak the truth – and the truth hurts sometimes. But we’re in a critical place, and we’re not doing very well as a nation – we’re not as strong as we used to be.
We need to make some big changes, tough changes, and we need a leader who can do that.
Look, if we go with Hillary she will carry on what Obama has done, and probably worse – we’ve had eight years of this, imagine another four years? No, we can’t do it. We just can’t.
Seriously, what happened to the Democrat party?
Ya know, the Democrat party used to be a great party. It used to be a party that relied on the truth and spoke for the working man. But now it’s turned into a socialist party, which I am not very fond of at all.
I don’t believe in socialism. I think it’s the worst thing that could happen to this country.
So, Antonio, you made another statement that I thought was interesting – you talked about how kids no longer look up to their teachers as “heroes” like they did some years ago. Tell me, who are your heroes?
Oh, yeah, well, first off, my parents, my father and my mother. They sacrificed so much to come to this country, and we did our best to survive here as immigrants.
But over the years I have had great teachers, teachers who had the patience to guide me, and agents and acting coaches – but mostly my parents. We came here, the four of us, my parents and my sister and me – we left everything, we left our home, our friends, our family back in Italy to come to here. My parents gave up everything for us.
Any political heroes?
I have always looked up to President Reagan and President Kennedy.
What do you love most about America?
I have always been attracted to the United States, and how people live and work, things are done differently here, it’s a lot about “business,” but if you work hard, and you’re not lazy, you can live the American dream.
And really, that’s why I love this country – because you can do things here that you can’t do anywhere else in the world.
We should be proud of that.
Well said! So, Antonio, you’re a really popular figure within the Trump movement, share something with our readers that’s happening in your life that’s not about politics or the election.
Well, you know, right now, this time in my life is all about family. It’s about raising my children, about keeping the family together. Learning from my children, learning from my wife – and really enjoying those moments.
Sure, there’s business and projects that I want to do, but that all comes second to my family.
It’s funny, ya know, this business that I’m in is exciting, and you never know what will happen, or where it will take you. I have survived in this business for a long time, and I plan to keep fighting to stay in it.
I love working as an actor, and I love being on movie sets – those things are awesome!
I’m just gonna keep doin’ what I’m doin’ ya know?
Yes. That’s awesome; you have such an amazing perspective! OK, I have one last question for you.
Ok.
How big is the Trump win going to be? Is it “landslide” or “Tsunami?”
Well, I hope the biggest! I hope he wins by so much. Look, it’s gonna be interesting, no one has ever seen anything like this in politics. Last June I predicted that Donald Trump would be the nominee, and no one believed me, and here we are.
He’s running strong. Now it’s a crucial time; we need to come together and ask ourselves what is best for the country.
We gotta put everything on the table and get real, talk about what’s happened and where we’re headed and then go from there.
In my opinion, Donald Trump is a good man. A hard working man and he’s extremely successful. Look, he doesn’t need to do this, all the hassle and expense of running for president, but he’s doing it because he loves this country and he knows he can fix it.
Well said, Antonio. Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me today, it’s been awesome!
Yes, and thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
