Disgraced Maddow Gives Pathetic Excuse for Her Failed Tax Release Stunt
Rachel Maddow really blew it.
Not only did she help President Trump by proving his point that his taxes are a giant “nothing-burger,” she also let down all her hateful liberal minions who were hoping she would have an Anti-Trump “smoking gun” after her salacious stunt teaser.
Now, Maddow is on the defense and trying to justify the fiasco.
From USNews
Rachel Maddow says that if people felt let down by her story about President Donald Trump’s 2005 tax document it’s more because of the weight of expectation than anything she did.
The MSNBC host found herself in the odd position Wednesday of defending herself from criticism following one of the biggest-ever scoops for her show. Maddow’s show revealed, through reporter David Cay Johnston, two pages of tax return information that showed Trump earned $150 million in 2005 and paid $38 million in income taxes that year. Trump has steadfastly refused to release his tax returns.
Maddow’s tweet less than 90 minutes before her show that “we’ve got Trump’s tax returns” set off a social media frenzy. Although a subsequent tweet specified it was only two pages from one year’s returns, expectations were sky high.
Maddow told the AP that she never misrepresented what she had.
“Because I have information about the president doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily a scandal,” she said. “It doesn’t mean that it’s damning information. If other people leapt to that conclusion without me indicating that it was, that hype is external to what we did.”
Her story was derided as “a big nothingburger” by Fox News Channel’s Steve Doocy on Wednesday. There were unflattering comparisons to Geraldo Rivera’s opening of Al Capone’s vault, television shorthand for an anticipated event that doesn’t meet expectations. The White House’s pre-emptive step of issuing a statement with Trump’s income and estimated taxes for that year before Maddow’s show started also took air out of the story.
Maddow’s nearly 20-minute explanation of why seeing the president’s tax returns is important and all of the things they could reveal — before telling what the 2005 documents actually showed — may have felt familiar to her regular viewers but a long tease for those enticed by the advanced advertising.
Tweeted ESPN’s Bob Ley during the show: “If you have news, Rachel, please tell us. Soon. I’m not young.”
Maybe next time she has a weak scoop, Maddow will learn not to hype it up so much.

Because she said that she has breaking news about Donald Trump and hypes it up for 1 1/2 hours does mean that she had every intention of trying to bring him down through a scandal….epic fail and she looked like a fool again.
Since when can anybody hack into the IRS? Don’t you have to STEAL the Social Security Number?? Isn’t she complicit in theft of a Federal document?? Where is the rest of the media? I think we know why CNN et al. Looks the other way.
This woman freely chose to participate in a felony….unfortunately she belongs to the above the law elite so we probably will have the double standard used to not prosecute her. If the Trump administration lets this slide, they are participating in the business as usual in DC where there are those above the law. He will very much disappoint those who voted for him.
Not a fail, saw the show. Amazing the That is the year Trump marries his wife and then the next year his wife tries to get her US citizenship. That 2005 tax return was needed by her because they filed joint return. Trouble is those returns provide more questions than answers. So why won’t he release the rest of the taxes? #releasethetaxes.
How stupid….
Who cares, if he broke the law, we’d know. Everything else is petty BS
I just love it when liberals eat their own.
Whoop de do, chump sent his two page tax return to a reporter who called her, big deal. Nothing was revealed, bigger question is, when will that azz hole release his full taxes so we can see who the hell in Russia the mfer is in bed with?
Jerrica, so sorry you skipped your meds and missed your lobotomy appointment. There is no law that says he must release his taxes. He made $250M in 2005, wrote off $100M legally, and paid $38M in taxes. Deal with it. Oh, and as to Russia, there is ZERO evidence of any collusion. You watch too much FAKE NEWS.
Jerrica eat more of the liberal pie
I call BS on this. The most relieved person in America is Geraldo Rivera.
We call her Mad Cow in our family. $38 million in one year……that’s a lot of money. Just think how many of us regular folk it would take to give that much to taxes in our lifetimes…….let alone one year.
He paid more than sanders..
