DEBUNKED : ABC Poll Showing Clinton with a 12 Point Lead is FAKE
The new ABC poll showing Clinton with a 12 point lead is a fake.
We’ve discovered via Hillary campaign emails released by Wikileaks that they would send out phony oversampled polls, and that’s exactly what they’re doing.
This one, however, is a real doozie.

Oversampling is different than a poll’s observed partisan split. Oversampling is done to get more accuracy on subgroups, not to change the results of a survey or poll. For example, you want to more accurate information on sub-group A that is only 5% of the population. If you do a random sample of 1000, you’ll only get 50 on average. So instead you might sample 1050 where 100 are from group A. But then when you report overall results you weight each of the group A people by 1/2. It is very basic polling/survey practice done all the time.
The partisan split of the poll may or may not be wrong but it has nothing to do with oversampling. Given the high number of independents, they are not pushing on leaners – probably a somewhat larger percentage of the independents are GOP leaners. That doesn’t change the overall result though.
BTW, as of today the difference decreased to 9 from 12.
