John your discourse is thoughtful and not poopy and I appreciate that. I’m a vet, (Vietnam), and a college-educated white woman, and a business owner. I’m sure that what I say will probably not make an impact, but I’d like you to understand the thinking process of Americans who are disgusted with the political establishment. First, take sex, misogny, etc., out of the equation. Historically, almost every President and/or otherwise powerful individual could be called out for inappropriate behavior. I’m not saying it’s right, just that this is not really as important an issue as all of the others we as a country are facing. The basic tenet of the Republican party is to get government out of our homes and pockets. I don’t know how old you are so forgive me if I make the assumption that you may not remember some of these things.
EDUCATION: In the old days students learned to read using phonics. My sister and I are one year apart. They dropped phonics when she started school, and started a word-recognition program. Therefore, she never learned how to read. Schools were also set up on a two-track system. One track was for students that were going to attend college, mostly academia with little life-skills training. The other track was for students that were going to be working when they got out of school. These students learned book keeping, budgeting, life skills, taxes, basically all of the things that you need to know to work in, or start a business. It worked out very well for two reasons, first not all kids can afford to, or want to go to college; secondly, kids on the work track could always go to college later (as I did). Because the government decided that that was not “equality”, and all kids should go to college today most kids graduating from college (even a cheap one) are burdened with student debt. In addition, because the expectations of these students are that they will get the job they have studied for, they often are not able to find a job or adapt to a fluid work environment. They have not been taught the critical skills that are needed to start and be successful in starting their own business, have no idea of the time intensive work that is involved in succeeding in a career and are often unable to escape the bonds of their student loans. Thanks to government involvement Americans now have a $1.6 trillion dollar student loan debt. Hillary is calling for “free” college; “no student debt”; etc. Does that make sense to you? We are $20 trillion dollars in debt, therefore, right off the bat we’re talking about adding $1.6 trillion. The real problem facing educators today is that they are tied into “core curriculum” an off-shoot of the no child left behind bill. They are not able to teach based on the needs of their students or their communities because the government has determined what, how, and when they will teach. Our education system is terrible in rural and urban areas. There is a reason that Charter schools and private schools are in such demand. It is because educators in those institutions are allowed to…educate students. Funding for rural and urban schools has been less than for the upper class for a long time. For instance, in our rural community, our grammar school was in desperate need of repair, books, and other supplies. Our community came together and everyone, not just people with grammar school children, but everybody, signed over our income tax returns to the school. Not the government, not the school district, but to our little school. Taxes didn’t get raised, expectations were not increased, our little school needed help and the community helped. Raising taxes to address student debt and make college “free” while avoiding the basic issues of the educational system will only give our children and grandchildren a greater debt burden to face. Most of us voting now will be long dead before $20 trillion + extra debt is paid off. As a Republican, I have a responsibility to my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren to make the world a better place, not burden them with a debt that grows with each breath they take and not allow a group of elite politicians that went to private schools and, at best “read” about growing up in a low or middle income household make decisions that result in higher taxes. As Hillary said in a speech to Goldman Sachs (and I paraphrase), “I was raised in a middle class home, but Bill and I have been so fortunate that I really don’t relate to those people.” (It’s in the emails if you’d like to read it). The Clinton plan calls for $168 million tax increase. She says that she is going get the increase from a 68% increase on death tax and from rich people. But in reality we are already taxing rich people and the government has said that before. In the end, taxes always fall to the middle class and we, the middle class just can’t afford any more taxes.
VETS – I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to use any of the services, but you can find a lot of Vietnam vets on the street who couldn’t get assistance and didn’t get their benefits. The wait at the VA medical facility is terrible and people have died waiting to see a doctor. It’s not just in one VA, it’s in all of them. The republican platform is to improve the VA and if a vet can’t get seen at a VA center they will be able to go to a private physician without charge. One of the issues for vets is that we that served in actions that were not designated as “war” do not receive the same benefits as war vets. To me Vietnam was a war, to the government it was a “police action”. Yeah, I didn’t get all of the benefits I would have if it had of been a war. The democratic platform is to “look into the problem” — You know what? They have been looking into the problem for over 8 years. Americans, especially American vets are tired of waiting.
ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS – No the Republicans are not going to mess with Social Security or Medicare. Most of the things in your list are actually controlled by individual states who get block grants and run things themselves. But it has been shown that those states that require people to be in training, have a part-time job, or do community service in order to receive benefits have a lower unemployment rate and people receiving aid do not stay on it as long because they are able to get jobs.
We are not pro-white supremacy any more than all democrats are pro-nazi (that idiot that just endorsed Clinton); We are not anti immigration, we are anti illegal immigration, open borders and open trade because we, as a country cannot afford it. Some of us are pro gun (I personally could not feed my family meat in the winter and there are bears and bobcats in my area), but some are not. This is a 2nd amendment right, but there are many republicans who don’t want to own a gun and that is okay, we just don’t want to lose the right to get one if we need it. And think about it, do you really think if guns were not available to people that criminals would go, “Okay, guns aren’t allowed, we better not have any”. Of course not. Criminals don’t care about laws or rules, if they know no one has a gun, they don’t care, it just makes being a criminal easier. We are pro-business for everybody. Many people would start a business if they could get past the regulations and cost of start-up. It is my belief that they should have a chance.
I’d encourage you to dig beneath all the bluster and negative stuff from both sides and really take a look at the platforms of each party. The democrats have been in the white house for 8 years now, Hillary has been in government for over 35 years, take a look at what they have, and have not done. Look closely at what Hillary has actually done, not just what she says. Do you feel safer today? Do you have a larger savings? Do you pay less taxes than you did 8 years ago? And, if you pay more taxes, are you getting more services from the government? I think that I have covered your questions and I hope that I have been helpful. The important thing to me is to remember that no matter what, we are all Americans, we should all care for each other regardless of race, job, religion. To most of us, and especially to me, All lives matter.

The airplane had at least 100 passengers and crews. Well if someone would grope me on an airplane, every one on that plane would hear me, I would start yelling at the stewardess for another seat, then the captain would be informed by me and all the passengers would hear it. I would notify the airline headquarters before I even would get off the plane. Arm rests did lift in 1980, I know because I was flight attendant in 1980. The only arm rests that did not lift were the bulkhead seats that are not typically in first class. Most aircraft have less than 15 bulkhead seats.

Several of the Left Wing sites show pix of First Class seats with movable arm rests. Those seats are mostly from L1011 and and DC10s from the 1970s. It is POSSIBLE that those seats may still have been in use in the 80s. I will say that I have flown millions of miles and I have never seen a seat in First Class of that type. One other point, the seats pictured in this article are of a type not seen until the mid to late 90s. They appear to be similar to a 767 from Continental or Delta from the late 90’s or early 2000s. On other point – the phone numbers are different too. Last 4 digits are not the same. Again, I’m not buying the story, mostly due to the timing, but I like to have the facts correct.

Jessica Leeds claimed that in the early 1980s she was on a flight to New York and was upgraded into an empty first class seat next to Donald Trump. She says Trump lifted the armrest and began to touch her inappropriately (“He was like an octopus”).
Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson went on television and invoked ‘the aviation defense’ where she just starts naming older aircraft models. Bizarrely she suggests that L-1011s and DC-10s didn’t fly to New York, so we don’t have to look at those aircraft. And first class armrests don’t move.
With proof that there were L-1011s and DC-10s with movable armrests, Pierson’s argument rests entirely on the notion that neither aircraft type served the New York market.
Except that the original L-1011 concept came out of discussions between American Airlines and Lockheed for a plane that would fly transatlantic from New York (and Dallas) and the inaugural commercial flight of the L-1011 was Eastern Airlines Miami – New York. TWA had significant New York operations with L-1011s and even had a famous crash, flight 843 to San Francisco, where all passengers were safely evacuated but the plane was lost to fire.
