They had plans to move their flagship Lincoln MKC and Ford Escape to Mexico but now they are not. Fact: The UAW contract with Ford prohibits the reduction of jobs at the Louisville assembly plant. This story about Trump stopping it’s closure and saving jobs there is 100% false. Note the wording of Trump’s tweets on this did not actually claim he stopped it from closing. He simply implied it by writing the plant will stay open after he talked to Bill Ford. And the right wing media spun it from there.

Ford credited Trump’s policies for its decision to keep producing the MKC in Louisville.
“Today, we confirmed with the President-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly Plant will stay in Kentucky,” Ford said in a release issued late Thursday. “We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States.”
The MKC is only 10% of the volume of cars produced on that line with the Ford Escape at Louisville. Its volume would never justify a separate production line anywhere. The idea that the MKC alone would be moved to Mexico is HOGWASH. There was never consideration of closing that plant.
