BREAKING : The Past SIX Presidents Have “Banned Immigrants”
Obama and his five presidential predecessors all used their executive powers to temporarily ban certain immigrants, including Muslims from entering the United States.
Were liberals outraged and protesting over that?
The protests and outrage we’re witnessing now appears to be more anti-Trump nonsense from the bitter left.

Obama has barred huge groups of potentially dangerous immigrants from entering the United States at least six times, undercutting his claim that barring Muslims from terrorist countries as Donald Trump has proposed is un-American.
In his first ban, according to a search of White House records, Obama instituted a ban on “immigrants or nonimmigrants” covered by a larger United Nations travel ban. He also included those on an economic sanctions list. Most countries were Muslim.
He cited the very same section of law that many critics of his policies have asked him to use, “section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952.” It says, “Whenever the president finds that the entry of aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrant’s or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
He used the same provision five other times, one more in 2011, twice in 2012 and twice in 2014. In those, he targeted people aiding Iran, Syria, Crimea, and those involved in war crimes.
Still, in his latest tirade against Trump’s call for a ban on Muslims from terror nations, Obama said such bans violate the American way.
In reaction to the Orlando terror attack, Trump said, “When I’m elected, I will suspend immigration from areas of the world where there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies until we fully understand how to end these threats.”
Obama ripped him. “That’s not the America we want,” he said. “It doesn’t reflect our democratic ideals. It will make us less safe.”
White House documents also show that former President Bill Clinton issued six immigrant bans; George W. Bush six immigrant bans; and former President Ronald Reagan four. And in 1980, former President Jimmy Carter banned Iranians after Tehran seized the U.S. embassy.
Below are Obama’s actions:
— July 25, 2011. Barred those under a UN travel ban, or who broke 29 executive orders covering transactions with terrorists.
— Aug. 4, 2012. Banned anybody involved in war crimes, or just about any other crime including human rights violations.
— April 23, 2012. Barred those helping Syria or Iran, or involved in human rights abuses for those governments.
— May 1, 2012. Another block on those helping Iran and Syria.
— April 3, 2014. Banned anyone known to threaten South Sudan.
— March 6, 2014 . Barred entry of those claiming government authority in the Crimea region of Ukraine, presumably on behalf of Moscow.

The ban is on specific countries from which immigrants can not be properly vetted and it is temporary; aliens from countries referred to in section 217(a)(12) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1187(a)(12). Countries identified during the Baraq Hussein administration to be a threat. He only identified a small number of Islamic countries, he did NOT ban a religious group. He is halting ingress to give the administration time to determine a proper course of action.
Know what you are talking about before commenting upon anything, particularly if you are going to draw parallels to Hitler.

There is a provision for Christian minority groups from those countries, but not Muslim minority groups. Therefore in those countries it is a ban on Muslims.

The Order does not mention any religion, so it is not a ban on religion. It is for 3 months at the present time then hopefully we can have a better idea on how to determine what the entry requirements will be as well as the full vetting process. I saw where a family who lived here, that are Muslim had their mother and father fly in for a visit as well as an uncle who. They were all Muslim The parents flew in from Holand and the uncle from Canada and were all permitted to enter so that shows that the religion has not been banded.
The 7 countries were on the list because OBAMA designated them as countries that had significant ties and/or supported terrorist groups. The last several presidents have all used executive orders to halt immigration even Obama who used it 5 times. They can still add countries when they feel it’s warranted.

Trump used the same countries Obama put on the “high risk” countries list… He didnt add any, didn’t take any off the list. Not saying what what he did isn’t wrong but saying hes greedy and not trying to keep America safe is a little narrow sighted.
Trump’s ban is 90-120 days long, it has been put in effect in an effort to improve the vetting system we have. This ban IS NOT a ban on all Muslims, in fact it has nothing to do with banning Muslims. It has to do with banning areas where ISIS has a stronghold, areas where ISIS has promised that they have already infiltrated the refugee camps.
This promise made to the USA by ISIS has been proven to be fact and is evident in the problems that other countries have encountered after bringing refugees in.

All of the actions listed by the previous presidents were temporary orders banning the consideration of visas for certain specific people. This happens all the time, and all over the world. What the orders to is tell all consular personnel (the people who screen visa applicants) “during your screening, it the person matches this criteria, you should deny a person a visa.”
That is NOT what Trump did. What he has done is ban people who FOLLOWED THE LAW… stood in line, applied for the visa, got a proper background check, and received the visa (in many cases we are talking about people who have green cards!) These people followed the rules, and got legal visas. This lie about them being “illegal” is exactly that — a lie.
The people being deported are people who followed the rules precisely, spent a lot of time and effort (and money! Do you know what it costs to get a visa from some countries, and how many hoops you have to jump through?) going through the proper process. And now they are being pulled off their flights and deported.

Trump’s executive order — unlike the previous ones which were conducted by the rule of law, applied only to specific high-risk individuals, and prevented them from ever GETTING a visa — is in violation of US law, the US constitution, and the Geneva Convention, among many other international statutes.

Please read the comments carefully. People are actually spending time trying to inform you of facts, so that you can avoid looking like a brainwashed sheep. Please try to benefit from the information.
As several people have pointed out, what presidents did in the past was place a new criteria in the visa screening process. If you had already received a visa or were on a green card or living in the US legally, this did NOT apply to you. All it did was say — FROM NOW ON, we will check to make sure that this particular category of people (and these are people who had either committed crimes or done something to support an enemy country of the US) will be denied visas. If they apply for a visa, it will be turned down.
What Trump has done is to DEPORT PEOPLE WHO CAME TO THE US LEGALLY! In order to even board a plane for the US, you need to get a visa. So the people being turned back followed all the rules, were screened carefully, and their visas were approved (in some cases they have green cards and have lived in the US for years). They entered LEGALLY. Trump is saying — if you came from this country, we are kicking you out, no matter how much you have followed the rules.
That is not only against US law and the US constitution, but it is a violation of the Geneva Convention, which means that there is a good chance the US will be brought up on criminal charges in the Hague.
Even if you dont give a toss what people outside the US think, maybe its time to reconsider. There are 6.5 billion other people who share this planet with Americans, and it really is not a good idea to DELIBERATELY try to make all of them your enemies.

the order covers country’s where vetting is not verifiable due to the govt/infrastructure being in chaos. Country’s not listed do have larger muslim populations, some more violent, but they also offer enough stability to allow our intelligence people to properly vet immigrants. Trump has not permanently banned immigration from countries that are predominantly Muslim. There is no separation of church and state in these countries. What Trump is proposing is stopping the immigration until a strong, honest vetting system can be established so we are not allowing radical Islam terrorist into our country to kill us. What presidents did in the past was place a new criteria in the visa screening process. If you had already received a visa or were on a green card or living in the US legally, this did NOT apply to you. All it did was say — FROM NOW ON, we will check to make sure that this particular category of people (and these are people who had either committed crimes or done something to support an enemy country of the US) will be denied visas. If they apply for a visa, it will be turned down.
What Trump has done is to DEPORT PEOPLE WHO CAME TO THE US LEGALLY! In order to even board a plane for the US, you need to get a visa. So the people being turned back followed all the rules, were screened carefully, and their visas were approved (in some cases they have green cards and have lived in the US for years). They entered LEGALLY. Trump is saying — if you came from this country, we are kicking you out, no matter how much you have followed the rules.
That is against US law and the US constitution, not to mention a violation of the Geneva Convention. Did you miss the news that the parliament of England (ENGLAND FCOL!) is debating a call to ban Trump from visiting their country, until the EO is cancelled. ???

The Obama Administration Stopped Processing Iraq Refugee Requests For 6 Months In 2011

Although the Obama administration currently refuses to temporarily pause its Syrian refugee resettlement program in the United States, the State Department in 2011 stopped processing Iraq refugee requests for six months after the Federal Bureau of Investigation uncovered evidence that several dozen terrorists from Iraq had infiltrated the United States via the refugee program.
After two terrorists were discovered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 2009, the FBI began reviewing reams of evidence taken from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that had been used against American troops in Iraq. Federal investigators then tried to match fingerprints from those bombs to the fingerprints of individuals who had recently entered the United States as refugees:
An intelligence tip initially led the FBI to Waad Ramadan Alwan, 32, in 2009. The Iraqi had claimed to be a refugee who faced persecution back home — a story that shattered when the FBI found his fingerprints on a cordless phone base that U.S. soldiers dug up in a gravel pile south of Bayji, Iraq on Sept. 1, 2005. The phone base had been wired to unexploded bombs buried in a nearby road.
An ABC News investigation of the flawed U.S. refugee screening system, which was overhauled two years ago, showed that Alwan was mistakenly allowed into the U.S. and resettled in the leafy southern town of Bowling Green, Kentucky, a city of 60,000 which is home to Western Kentucky University and near the Army’s Fort Knox and Fort Campbell. Alwan and another Iraqi refugee, Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, 26, were resettled in Bowling Green even though both had been detained during the war by Iraqi authorities, according to federal prosecutors.
The terrorists were not taken into custody until 2011. Shortly thereafter, the U.S. State Department stopped processing refugee requests from Iraqis for six months in order to review and revamp security screening procedures:
As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets. One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two U.S. officials said. In 2011, fewer than 10,000 Iraqis were resettled as refugees in the U.S., half the number from the year before, State Department statistics show.
According to a 2013 report from ABC News, at least one of the Kentucky terrorists passed background and fingerprint checks conducted by the Department of Homeland Security prior to being allowed to enter the United States. Without the fingerprint evidence taken from roadside bombs, which one federal forensic scientist referred to as “a needle in the haystack,” it is unlikely that the two terrorists would ever have been identified and apprehended.
“How did a person who we detained in Iraq — linked to an IED attack, we had his fingerprints in our government system — how did he walk into America in 2009?” asked one former Army general who previously oversaw the U.S. military’s anti-IED efforts.
President Barack Obama has thus far refused bipartisan calls to pause his administration’s Syrian refugee program, which many believe is likely to be exploited by terrorists seeking entry into the United States. The president has not explained how his administration can guarantee that no terrorists will be able to slip into the country by pretending to be refugees, as the Iraqi terrorists captured in Kentucky did in 2009. One of those terrorists, Waad Ramadan Alwan, even came into the United States by way of Syria, where his fingerprints were taken and given to U.S. military intelligence officials.
Obama has also refused to explain how his administration’s security-related pause on processing Iraq refugee requests in 2011 did not “betray our deepest values.”

He did issue an order revising the screening procedures so that people applying for NEW visas from certain places or groups would be refused the visa, but he did NOT ban people who already had a legal right to enter the US. I’ve read and read and read and still have not seen anyone post any real proof to what TRUMP has proposed. Someone even said read his executive orders. BUT no one has posted a link to them. I’ll look for them but if someone has them please post them here.

It’s about taking any opportunity which would give fuel to start a fire among people who are ignorant and easily triggered. The dumbed down products of the commie ed system are just troglodytes who can be lit up on cue. The truth of any matter does not matter.
I have a perfect solution for all those who oppose how President Trump is handling the illegal immigrants. I propose a lottery. This lottery does not cost anything, and it is completely voluntary to participate.
This is how it would operate:
Those who believe that the ones being deported or not allowed to enter into the country, may sign up to receive a refugee.
This person is randomly selected by a computer, and you must accept the one selected. No background checks will be completed, so none can be given to you, you must accept on faith.
Lottery participants will be completely responsible for the actions of their refugee. If they break the law in anyway, if found guilty, must also fulfill whatever sentencing they would receive, and pay any and all fines, including deportation if found necessary.
Whether the refugee lives with you, or apart, you will be totally financially responsible for them, untill they have everything they need, with enough saved to sustain themselves for one entire year, which also includes medical.
You may apply to receive as many refugees as you wish, these guidelines apply for each one received.
This should resolve the controversy between those who do not approve of America protecting themselves until another system is in place, and those who do support President Trump.

Actually, everyone seems to be missing the point. In 1965 Congress specifically passed the Immigration and Nationality Act that states “No person shall receive any preference or priority or be discriminated against in the issuance of an immigrant visa because of the person’s race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence.”
It does not matter whether this is about religion (a constitutional question), but instead that the Executive Order discriminates against 7 entire countries (nationality, place of birth or place of residence). The President does not have the authority to clearly break a law passed by Congress, particularly as argued by the Drumpf folks, using a law that was passed in 1952 as the authority, 13 years before this one, which was designed to be more clear in what was and was not allowed when dealing with immigrants. As others have mentioned on here, Obama’s did not specify countries except in the last case above, and then it was only for the class of people in that “region” of a country that “had government authority”, not an entire people or entire nation.
