BREAKING : Sheriff Clarke Calls for Nationwide Concealed Carry in all 50 States
Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke made a push for a nationwide concealed carry reciprocity in all 50 states.
The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.

I thought we already had it if people would just read the Constitution: The Full Faith and Credit Clause—Article IV, Section 1, of the U.S. Constitution—provides that the various states must recognize legislative acts, public records, and judicial decisions of the other states within the United States. It states that “Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State.”
Unfortunately, some states say NO to guns, while some say OK. Unfortunately concealed carry has not been addressed (yet) by the Supreme Court to resolve conflicting judicial opinions. If you reside in New York, visiting Wisconsin, you better not have a 30 round magazine, but if you are from Wisconsin, visiting New York, you can bring that 60 round Surefire for your AR? I hope it is cleared up soon. Seems like 2nd Amendment applies and all the state laws are void.
Wow Al – Wisconsin, you have cleared this up. Second Amendment Gun Rights is a FEDERAL Issue, Directly from our Constitution… Not a State Choice! In Ga the only gun free zone in an Airport is inside the security area. If that shooting happened in Ga. that tragedy would not have been near as bad.

Yes we agree 100%!! If every law abiding citizen had a gun on there person, I guarantee there will be less crime and less criminals on the street!! For instance my wife had a black masked male at 10pm run up to her car at a stop light and try to open her door acting as though he had a gun! Luckily the doors were locked and she drove away. But if the attacker would’ve got the door open I could only imagine what would’ve happened! Though my wife always carries her 380 bodyguard, if she would’ve been in another state like Colorado she wouldn’t of had it as ready on her hip because it’s not legal for her to carry there, and I know as a fact that if that door opened she wouldn’t of had time to dig it from her purse or console… legal or not she now carries it on her person EVERYWHERE!!! You have our votes, along with every person I am involved with!!!! Let’s do it!! It needs to be done!! When there are more law abiding citizens carrying guns the criminals everyone will be safer!!!

The door was locked. I was working out of town, Northern Va. When she told me about what happened, I Bought her a 25 automatic. she practiced by shooting at empty pepsi cans, floating down a nearby stream, I can tell you, the next person that tries to open her door,in that sadistic manner, will be sorry for his pathetic actions. She carries it on her person, at all times, with full knowledge of how to use it. her permit; is the 2nd amendment, which Refers to the rights we have to protect our family and ourselves from harms Way. Using the same interpretation of the 14th Amendment the Supreme Court applied to “Same Sex Marriage, if is legal in one state, then it is legal in all states, should apply to the same ruling for lawful acceptance of concealed carry permits. Federal law already determines individuals prohibited from the right to own or purchase a firearm.
i am all for it and it should have been done years ago !!! but living in western new york, our hands have been tied behind our backs with the new york safe act that the corrupt Cuomo forced Albany to pass overnight !!! not only with our hand guns but alot more. All he did was take thousands of honest,hard working,tax paying new yorkers and made felons out of us !!!!!

I agree, only problem is a lot of people live in NJ. No way will they issue a concealed carry. They won’t honor another State either. With all most of us in NJ went through to get a permit to buy a handgun you would think that would be enough. Plus a class for safety, and to make sure your somewhat proficient with the gun. I hope this changes and nationwide is the law of the land.

Nation wide is how it should be. As long as you have a CCW from your state why isn’t good in every state that has CCW. You have been through a background check passed all tests and an legal carry. So why not be good in all states.
In California you can neither open or concealed carry without a permit. This in no way infringes on my right to own and bear arms ( as long as I stay home to do it) . This permit business has several purposes : 1. To teach gun safety. 2. To generate a sourse for collection of fees ( taxes). 3. To keep tally of those who register their weapons through the permit process. 4. To prevent the people from rising up against their government . Myself, if I see a need to carry a weapon, I’ll do it with or without permission of any authority.
One must recall what happens when the weapons are taken away ; ask any holocaust victim .

I have had four different states drivers licenses. Never have I had an issue being told I can’t drive in this state or that state because I have a states drivers license that isn’t accepted here. Why am I unable to use my chp to cross state lines? I have the privilege to drive over state lines. Why don’t I have the “right” to protect myself in all fifty states just because of the state listed on my chp. With a federal carry permit, even if it’s an extra background check which any law abiding gun owner would be willing and able to do, any American citizen could carry the right to bear firearms over state lines. Put into federal regulation what buildings are gun free. The capital buildings, the banks, post offices, the norm of 99% of every state with concealed carry permits. It shouldn’t change much for the regulations of a law abiding citizen.
Concealed Carry Reciprocity is a good idea BUT I would rather see CONSTITUTIONAL Carry so the permit fee (Tax) doesn’t need to be collected. The 2nd Amendment already says I can carry.
