Breaking : FBI Issues Warning, 2 Election Databases May Have Been Hacked

Early on, he was accused of being a paranoid conspiracy theorist – and then the Wikileaks DNC email hack happened – and the REALITY of people rigging elections was right there in black and white.

Now, the FBI has a DIRE warning.

It appears as if 2 election databases have been hacked.

When Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump commented earlier this month that the presidential election could be rigged, his comment was roundly criticized.

However, now the FBI is issuing warnings that election databases in two states may have been hacked by individuals from outside the United States.

A Flash Alert sent out by the FBI said that the bureau had been informed about two separate IP addresses attempting to hack into two different states’ Board of Election websites.

The attempt was first reported by Yahoo News, which reported that based on “sources familiar with the document,” the states targeted by the hackers were Arizona and Illinois.

Illinois was forced to shut down its voter registration system for 10 days as a result of the incident, Yahoo reported.  No major difficulties were reported in Arizona, Yahoo said.

“The FBI is requesting that states contact their Board of Elections and determine if any similar activity to their logs, both inbound and outbound, has been detected. Attempts should not be made to touch or ping the IP addresses directly,” the FBI alert said.

“It was an eye opener,” Yahoo quoted what it called a “senior law enforcement official” as saying. “We believe it’s kind of serious, and we’re investigating.”

As a result of the intrusion, Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson held a briefing on Aug. 15 with state election officials.

In a “readout” of the call published by the Department of Homeland Security, Johnson announced that the department is taking new actions to address potential hacking that would impact voting.

Johnson said the department is creating a “Voting Infrastructure Cybersecurity Action Campaign with experts from all levels of government and the private sector to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks potentially affecting voting infrastructure and promote the security and resilience of the electoral process.”
