BREAKING : A TYPO Made by a Careless Aide is the Likely Cause of Podesta’s Email Hack
There are several theories floating around as to how John Podesta’s, (Clinton’s campaign chair) email was hacked.
One of the most viable is that he was hacked when he lost his phone in a cab, not long before Wikileaks obtained the documents.
Another theory is that it was an “insider” who obtained Podesta and DNC emails.
There’s also the theory that he and the DNC were hacked by sophisticated Russians, although there’s zero proof to back that up.
We are now learning about a possible lower-level phishing scam that may have given anyone access to Podesta’s email, and a TYPO by an aide that may have well led to one of the decades biggest email scandals.
From Daily Caller:
A Clinton campaign aide says that a typo in a March 19 email sent to John Podesta is to blame for opening the campaign chairman’s Gmail account up to Russian cyber hackers. The IT aide, Charles Delavan, tells The New York Times that his error — typing the word “legitimate” instead of “illegitimate” to describe a hacker’s email — continues to haunt him.
“This is a legitimate email,” Delavan wrote to Clinton campaign aide Sara Latham after she forwarded him an spear phishing email designed to look like official correspondence from Google. “
John needs to change his password immediately,” Delavan added, while also providing a link to a Google page that would have allowed Podesta to safely change his email password. Podesta did change his password, or so he thought. He appears to have clicked on the hacker’s fake email and entered his password there instead of at the link provided by Delavan.
Podesta’s move gave hackers access to his nearly 60,000 message Gmail account. The contents of the account were published by WikiLeaks beginning in October.

Maybe Podesta wanted to get caught because of his guilty conscience?

You can find detail in the wikileaks info itself.
I think Sara saw the importance and *called* Podesta right away. Then after that, forwarding Delavan’s email to Milia and cc’ing Podesta (it was from her phone). So Podesta on receiving that call just had the phishing scheme and acted quickly by clicking the button/link.
Anyone with some tech logic would see immediately what’s really going on here.
The fact that Delavan did not warn Podesta that it was a phishing scam email speaks volumes, shows he bought the “Someone has your password” subject line. Now, he did supply the correct link, credit for that. However, if he had not thought that it was a legit email from GMail, if he understood the dangers (as he would now like you to think) then he would have followed up with Podesta to make certain he understood that was a scam. He would have broadcast a warning to everyone. Even after Podesta used the fake site to change his email, it would not be much damage if Delavan had checked with him to make sure he did the right thing. Typo-schmypo.
Delavan’s typo excuse is a lie. And I find it rather scary that just about everybody is this gullible.
