ANTI-TRUMP GOP PUNDITS: WHY THEY’RE ALWAYS WRONG

The vast majority of “anti-Trump” political pundits have stammered, faltered, and fumbled their way through this primary season.  Most have been wrong from start to finish.

They proclaimed Trump’s demise over and over.

Look, Trump attacked McCain! He’s finished!

Hey, Trump attacked Megyn Kelly! He’s finished!

Wow, Trump didn’t show up to the Fox debate! He’s finished!

They labeled Trump supporters as “uneducated dummies.”

Trump appeals to uneducated people.

College educated people don’t support Trump.

Trump’s supporters are angry low-info people.

They questioned the loyalty of Trump’s support.

Trump’s rallies are just entertainment.

Will people actually vote for him?

The excitement will wear off.

Trump supporters watched baffled, as these so-called “educated elitists” missed the mark by a long shot – time and time again. How could these seemingly intelligent people with “insider” political connections get it so wrong?

Fear.

The vast majority of anti-Trump pundits are GOP establishment hacks, like Bill Kristol and George Will.  These types not only worship the status quo, they rely on it to stay relevant.

Kristol, Will, and their ilk have built their careers and so-called “conservative empires” on neo-conservative principles ( free-market capitalism and an interventionist foreign policy).  Someone like Trump, who comes along and attacks these half-baked shady “free trade” deals, and points out mistakes in our Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya foreign policies is a threat to everything that they’ve ever talked or written about.  The very fiber of their neocon being is violated – and so they do what comes naturally to a cornered animal.

They attack.

They strike the “outsider” who dares to strut around with swagger and bravado and says he’ll change the game.

The game is all they have.

They fester and boil when this brash outsider refers to them as “dopes” or “dummies.”

No one calls THEM names.  No one!

They watch in horror as the impetuous outsider’s popularity increases – and in turn, their relevance dissipates.

They’ve become the punch-line at the end of a very stale joke.

Every day on TV and in print, the anti-Trump pundits are fighting for relevancy and their political lives.  They are reminiscent of an aging athlete out of his prime and whose time has the past, yet he refuses to leave the field.

They’d rather lose the game than retire and risk irrelevancy.

The Bill Kristol’s and George Will’s are in a war, armed with musty ideas from yesteryear and battling against a behemoth of sweeping change.

Their days are numbered – but don’t expect them to leave the field quietly or with any semblance of grace or dignity.
