America Likes Mike!
Donald Trump is the ruckus voice of the anti-establishment right.
Dopes, idiots, incompetent – those are just a few of the words Trump commonly uses to describe our political leaders, and clearly, the American public agrees with him.
However, like with anything in life, symmetry is key, and Wednesday night the Trump campaign found it’s perfect balance.
They hit their stride.
When Mike Pence took the stage last night he brought with him a calm, composed, “Midwestern” energy that resonated with convention-goers and viewers at home.
Mike was the cherry atop a gooey decadent sundae.
The crowd chanted wildly, “We like Mike, We like Mike.”
It was exactly what Trump needed.
What Pence’s speech did was reassure those Americans who are still leery of Trump’s unconventional approach, that there is stability and calm stabilizing the brewing storm.
Mike Pence’s trademark line, “I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order,” speaks volumes to countless god-fearing Republicans in the Bible-belt who desired reassurance that their voice, feelings, and convictions will be justly represented.
They got what they needed.
Nowhere was the contrast between the “odd couple” more artfully highlighted, then when Pence referred to Trump as a man known for a “large personality, a colorful style and lots of charisma,” and then beautifully proclaimed, “So I guess he was looking for some balance on the ticket.”
That touch of self-deprecation was humanizing and warm.
Balance is a beautiful thing.
We really do like Mike.
