Actress Kirstie Alley SHREDS Obama for his Louisiana Apathy
While Barack Obama stunk up the golf course at Martha’s Vineyard, and Hillary napped, Donald Trump was in the flood-ravaged state of Louisiana, assessing the damage, meeting with victims, and donating an 18-wheeler full of supplies to needy victims.
Liberals are desperately trying to defend Obama’s flood-blow-off, claiming it’s “better for him to wait to go.”
Excuse me?
These are the same idiots who screamed bloody murder at George W. Bush for not going to Louisiana soon enough after hurricane Katrina.
Obama could have easily done a fly-over to assess the damage and then held a press conference to discuss – this would have at least shown empathy.
However, he didn’t do that.
Instead, he opted to golf.

Bush offered help immediately. The liberal democrat mayor and governor turned him down. The feds can’t just march into a state, the state has to ask. And Bush did not wait for them to ask, he offered. But they didn’t want help from no stinking republican. He flew over because he did not was to land and be a distraction and to use up local resources so desperately needed for victim relief.

The people in the government who needed to be there, got there really fast. Recovery has already started. Action was taken on the federal level much quicker this time around than during Katrina; ironically in a state where the majority say they do not need the government for anything. Now over 86,000 have applied for government assistance. The governor specifically, and rightly so, requested the president not come due to laws that require a certain amount of security measures that take first responders away from the people they are helping. Our president respected his wishes. Trump on the other hand ignored Edwards and decided to go there without asking. He handed out some water, playdoe and diapers for 49 seconds (there is timed video), signed autographs and left. Just enough time to say he was there, and it is terrible and “look I went and Obama didn’t”. It was political theater and nothing more. AND shut down interstate 10 in the process.

I have family in Louisiana and KNOW what is going on, how bad it it, how many people are in shelters, in churches, who have lost EVERYTHING, and how many people have been working around the clock to help their neighbors. NO they did not need a presidential ceremonial visit at this time to appease anyone. They do not need ridiculous showy distractions right now. If Trump really wanted to help he should have either not come, putting the people of Baton Rouge above politics. Unfortunately those who got to shake his hand are too ignorant to see him for what he is and will vote for him anyway…. never even wondering how he is going to “make America great again” while his own clothing line and ties are made in China and Mexico. You don’t know what you are talking about. I was there. Not per family, but physically. Just because the video was only X seconds doesn’t mean he went proof, and vanished. He helped for hours. He then went, and toured neighborhood, talked to people, ate lunch with us, and agree to contribute millions. Get your story correct next time you want to bash someone that is here helping us. I’m from Louisiana. Mine and my husband’s entire families are there. And each of them has said they are thankful to ANYONE who comes to help. ANYONE. And for the record, play does can keep a child occupied for hours while mom and dad try to think of a plan, clean up, lean on each other etc. Now is not the time for anyone to be an ass.

To rebut your half witted diatribe let’s start with your Katrina comment and the speed with which needed aid for the rescue and recovery arrived vs the current events. New Orleans was a city of between 450,000 and 460,000 people and approximately 85% of them evacuated prior to the storm’s arrival, duh it was a Cat 4-5 storm. The Coast Guard, National Guard and many others including civilians with boats from surrounding areas began rescue immediately. The city was under water for over three weeks and nearly all of the roads leading to N.O. were blocked with downed trees and power lines, as was the case in Mississippi. This caused numerous logistical problems. The airport was closed and being used to house people until transport was effected, which took thousands of buses. It was also a staging area for rescue workers coming in and helicopters flying in and out ferrying those rescued. In this current event the airport was not affected, roads leading into the area were open and many had not evacuated as they did not see the need at the time. Federal assistance workers were not scattered across the country with no way in as was the case with Katrina. On the Play-Do issue, you must never have been a child. Play-Do would make for a simple thing to keep kids occupied while sitting around an evacuation center with not much to do and takes up very little room in the 18 wheeler trailer full of items that Mr. Trump donated. You as the rest of us could only see what was being handed out near the rear door. Unless you are a psychic, you could have no earthly idea what was in the rest of that 53′ trailer. The president not coming was a wise decision, but President Bush was also on vacation. He also was asked not to come due to the circumstances. He at least cut his vacation short and traveled back to Washington to monitor rescue needs from there and planning the recovery needs. The guy who currently calls himself the president stayed out on the golf course and had the advantage of a much improved relief system thanks to the lessons learned from Katrina. Now for the timed video (probably the only one you have seen) I suggest you look a bit further than your nose and you will find many videos of his visit. You will also find that he visited numerous areas and spoke with the affected people. I doubt seriously that his visit shut down I-10. Mr. Trump does not require the same level of security as a sitting president. What has made you such an angry person? Do us all a favor, though, keep your anger to yourself, as we don’t want it or need it. It serves no positive or useful purpose at all. And when you want to speak please bring the facts, all of the facts. And when doing so remember It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
