A Tale of 2 Pauls – One Supports Our Vets, The Other Punishes Them

Paul Ryan is no Friend to The Men and Women Who Fight For Our Country

Paul Ryan callously slashes military benefits for the heroes who serve, sacrifice and protect us, while on the other hand – he happily funds Obama’s Refugee program.

But the “vicious” fun doesn’t stop there. From The Pragmatic Progressive Blog:

  • Ryan Opposed Veterans Health Care Funds.
  • Ryan Opposed Motion To Allow Veterans With Service-Related Disabilities And 20 Years’ Honorable Service To Receive Full Disability Benefits And Full Retirement Pay.
  • Ryan Voted to Cut Funding for Veterans’ Programs, Impose Enrollment Fees.
  • In 2003, Ryan voted for a budget that called for cutting $15 billion from veterans ’ benefits, including veterans’ pensions, compensation, education and other benefits, over 10 years.
  • Paul Ryan Voted to Cut Funding for Veterans Benefits By $25 Billion, Imposed Enrollment Fees.
  • Ryan Voted Against Spending an Additional $20 Million to Prevent Suicides by Combat Veterans.
  • Ryan Opposed New GI Bill.

Paul Ryan appears to have the same contempt for our military as Obama does.

Thankfully, there’s a flipside to this sinister coin.  Paul Nehlen, the man challenging Speaker Ryan for his house seat, has a very different outlook regarding our treasured vets.

In the short piece below, Nehlen shares a deeply touching story about a special vet named Jim.

From Mr. Nehlen:

God bless our veterans.

This is my “adopted Grandfather” Jim. He passed in a VA hospital in Augusta, Ga after living there only a few months. Fiercely independent, Jim could pull more sweet potatoes out of the ground at 89 than most men in their 30’s. Jim taught Sunday school into his 90’s and the only cuss word I ever heard him say was “crap”, in reference to cleaning out an old potato bank that we were preparing for a new harvest.

God saw to it I could fulfill my promise to be one of Jim’s pall bearers prior to flying to Europe to run businesses there. A short time later, his nephew found Jim’s dog tag at the bottom of a coffee can and sent it to me. I’ve worn it and the St Francis D’Assisi every day since.

That dog tag, hung from Jim’s neck, made it from Omaha beach to Berlin. He was in five major battles and won the Silver Star. You’d never know it from meeting him. A very humble man, Jim would only say that Hitler was an evil man and it proves that evil lives in this world, and good men have to fight it.

Though I only knew Jim for a short part of his (and my) life, his kindness and humility has had a profound effect. I believe that working hard and being kind to people is the foundation for good business. I also believe that rooting out evil is the work of good men, and worth every ounce of effort.

The veterans you see today, and every day have stories to tell about rooting out evil. They may not tell you about any of it.

Shake their hand, look them in the eye – and tell them – and their wives and kids and parents thank you. They’ve earned it.

We encourage everyone reading this to get familiar with Mr. Nehlen and his positions.

It’s time to #DumpRyan
